Illegal High‑Speed E‑Bike Seized and Suspect Arrested with Weapon in Waterloo |
||
|
PCs Husen, Osman and Beale from the Waterloo & Southbank Neighbourhood Team delivered excellent proactive policing this week while patrolling the Waterloo and Southbank area. They were supported throughout by Umer Khalid, Security Manager for Southbank BID, who regularly joins the team on frequent joint patrols as part of our close working partnership. While conducting targeted patrols in response to recent two‑wheel enabled thefts and snatches, the officers identified a male in a group of three riding an illegal electric motorbike believed capable of reaching speeds of up to 60mph. The vehicle had been illegally converted from a standard bicycle, posing a significant risk to the public. The officers intercepted the rider. During the stop, two officers sustained minor injuries when the suspect attempted to evade being detained. Despite this, both officers remained on duty and continued progressing the investigation with support from colleagues. A search of the male resulted in the recovery of a police‑style baton, leading to his arrest for possession of an offensive weapon in addition to offences relating to the illegal vehicle and seizure of the bike. This outcome highlights the team’s ongoing commitment to: • disrupting criminal use of illegal e‑bikes and e‑scooters It also demonstrates the value of our partnership with Southbank BID and the effectiveness of joint patrols in identifying risks early and tackling emerging crime trends. A strong example of proactive, partnership‑led policing across North Lambeth.
